🏡 What is the Apni Zameen Apna Ghar Scheme?
The ‘Apni Zameen Apna Ghar’ scheme is a welfare program initiated by the Punjab government to provide free residential plots to low-income and homeless families. In its first phase, the scheme will allocate 1,892 free 3-marla plots across 23 low-income housing projects in 19 districts . The initiative is managed by the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) under the administrative oversight of the Housing, Urban Development, and Public Health Engineering Department.

✅ Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Permanent Residency: Must be a permanent resident of Punjab as per CNIC.

District-Specific Application: Applications are only accepted within the applicant’s native district.

Property Ownership: The applicant, their spouse, or dependent children must not own any property in Pakistan.

Criminal Record: Must have a clean criminal record.

Bank Defaults: Must not be a defaulter of any bank or financial institution.

Income Level: Monthly household income must be below Rs50,000.

🏗️ Terms and Conditions for Plot Allotment

Construction Timeline: Construction must begin within six months of receiving possession and be completed within two years.

Transfer Restrictions: The allotted plot cannot be sold, transferred, or leased for a minimum period of five years.

Non-Compliance: Failure to meet construction deadlines or comply with building regulations will result in cancellation of the allotment after a one-month written notice.

Resumption of Plot: If the allotment is canceled due to non-compliance or false information, the plot will be reclaimed by PHATA without compensation.

Residential Use: The plot must be used solely for residential purposes; commercial activities or unauthorized construction are strictly prohibited.

Dispute Resolution: Any disputes regarding the plot will be referred to the Designated Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) of PHATA.

Inspections: PHATA reserves the right to inspect the construction at any stage to ensure compliance with these terms.

💰 Financial Support for Home Construction
Under the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ program, beneficiaries can avail interest-free construction loans up to Rs1.5 million, repayable over seven years at Rs14,000 per month. This facility is available for those who already own a parcel of land (5-marla in urban or 10-marla in rural areas) .
